Microsoft might be TikTok’s most likely buyer but Amazon will host the popular mobile app’s TV debut.
Starting Thursday, TikTok is launching on Amazon Fire TV devices in the U.S. as the company experiments with content beyond the mobile screen. TikTok and Amazon confirmed their plans to Business Insider.
The More on TikTok app will host popular videos in the form of playlists compiled by curators at TikTok. It will also have interviews with TikTok influencers and other content that is longer than the mobile app’s 60-second maximum, BI reports. The app will be free and will not include ads at the outset.
The Amazon partnership comes as TikTok faces a potential ban in the U.S. by President Donald Trump if the company’s American business is not acquired by Microsoft or another suitor.
