Amazon Music now links with Twitch to show artists’ live streaming performances

Musicians relying on digital streaming to connect with fans during the pandemic have another option to do so thanks to a new Amazon Music and Twitch partnership.

Twitch’s live streaming functionality will now be incorporated in the Amazon Music app, bringing artist engagement beyond just recorded music.

Artists can link their Twitch channel with Amazon Music and the app will notify fans when an artist is doing a live performance. A “Live” page inside the app also lists streams that are currently broadcasting. Users will stay right in the Amazon Music app and don’t have to download or sign in elsewhere.

Twitch, which is owned by Amazon, is gaining viewers beyond the streaming of video game content that it is known for. The Verge reported that Twitch’s music category has been booming since the start of the pandemic. Amazon Music, meanwhile, is said to have 55 million customers across a variety of subscription tiers.

Tom Skerritt’s new Seattle digital media startup launches PNW lifestyle streaming channel

Tom Skerritt wants to help storytellers from the Pacific Northwest share their work with the world.

The “Top Gun” star and Emmy Award-winning actor recently launched a new digital media startup called Triple Squirrels, which this month revealed the EVRGRN Channel, a new free streaming channel airing on STIRR.

Skerritt told GeekWire he realized how difficult it is for independent filmmakers to find distribution after spending the past three decades teaching and mentoring creators. So he launched his own platform to help them find audiences and share their work.

“The EVRGRN Channel is my tribute to the Pacific Northwest region’s creative community, as well as a statement about the cultural impact the region has had and continues to have on the arts,” he said. “The EVRGRN Channel, as a result, reflects the authentic PNW persona: resilient, independent, artistic, and adventurous.”

Some of the initial content includes Leslie and Dale Chihuly’s documentary, “Chihuly Outside,” and selections from the Seattle International Film Festival.

STIRR is a Sinclair-owned streaming service that launched last year and offers free ad-supported live and on-demand content.

“We chose STIRR as the initial streaming platform as it offered us two ways to deliver EVRGRN content to interested and relevant audiences nationwide — as a linear streaming channel and on demand,” said Leslie Grandy, CEO of Triple Squirrels. “STIRR also provides local, live news programming, which pairs well with our regionally curated catalog.”

Grandy is a Seattle tech industry veteran, having worked in leadership roles for RealNetworks, Apple, T-Mobile, Discovery, and Best Buy.

Triple Squirrels plans to launch EVRGRN on other streaming platforms later this year. It makes money with revenue from ads and sponsorships. The company has two employees and raised cash from a private investor in Los Angeles.

Skerritt previously founded and led another Seattle-based digital media company called Heyou Media, but shut the firm down at the end of 2019.

Skerritt has appeared in dozens of films and series, including “Alien” and “Steel Magnolias.” He studied English at Wayne State University and UCLA. Skerritt has lived in the Northwest since the 1980s.

More people are streaming media due to the pandemic and social distancing mandates. A recent study from Deloitte found demand increasing for cheaper, ad-supported streaming video options such as STIRR, Variety reported.

Microsoft will launch xCloud game streaming service Sept. 15 on Android

Microsoft on Tuesday revealed a launch date and other details about its new cloud-based gaming service.

Project xCloud will debut across 22 markets (including the U.S.) on Sept. 15 for Android, allowing Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription members to play more than 100 games on their phone or tablet. Microsoft did not say when xCloud will be coming to iOS devices; there could be a delay due to Apple’s App Store policies, as The Verge noted.

Bit disappointed we havent heard an update yet on xCloud for PC or iOS.

xCloud lets users play high-powered Xbox games such as Halo on their smartphones. xCloud will be coming to Windows 10 as well as the Xbox platform. The service was in public preview across North America, Europe, and South Korea earlier this year; the preview will end on Sept. 11.

Microsoft said last month that Project xCloud would be included in its Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership program. The Ultimate package includes access to both console and PC games, in addition to an Xbox Live Gold membership, for $14.99/month. There are more than 10 million Xbox Game Pass members.

Some refer to xCloud as the “Netflix of games,” given that it lets users access a library of games via the cloud.

Microsoft said today it is partnering with Razer, PowerA, 8BitDo, and Nacon to sell new accessories built for xCloud such as phone clips and travel controllers. Gamers can also use the Xbox One Bluetooth Wireless and PlayStation DualShock 4 controllers.

Games available via xCloud include Halo 5: Guardians, Destiny 2, Grounded, Gears 5, Tell Me Why, Forza Horizon 4, and most of the titles in the Xbox Game Pass library, according to an FAQ page.

Microsoft is competing with companies including Google and Nvidia that are also investing in cloud-based gaming services.

“Cloud gaming removes the need to wait until you can access your console in order to play your favorite games: Just pick up your phone or tablet and play the games you want, any time you want,” xCloud chief Kareem Choudhry wrote in a blog post.

Microsoft is also gearing up to release its new console, the Xbox Series X, later this year.

Fundada en Pekín en abril de 2010 y brazo del gigante tecnológico chino Baidu, la plataforma es un éxito en el país asiático y llega a nuestro país en 2 modalidades:

El Tiempo Contigo llegará en alquiler streaming el 27 de agosto

Tras el estreno en cines y a la espera de la fecha y detalles de su edición en Blu-ray y DVD, El Tiempo Contigo llegará el 27 de agosto en alquiler streaming, la cual podrá verse en Filmin, Itunes, PSN, Vodafone, Rakuten, GooglePlay y Movistar+.

La cinta podrá alquilarse desde esa fecha en todas estas plataformas y muy pronto tendremos los detalles de sus ediciones. El manga lo tenemos en España gracias a Milky Way y la novela gracias a Planeta Cómic.

Hodaka tiene 17 años y se ha escapado de su casa en una remota isla para vivir en Tokio. Mientras la lluvia cae incesantemente, el joven Hodaka, sin dinero, vive como puede… hasta que es contratado como chico de los recados de una pequeña editorial que trabaja para una revista de ocultismo.
